What does a wedding planner do?
A wedding planner takes away most of the planning work and is with your every step of the way during the planning process, from the time of booking. Once you have put your design and vision in detail, we help to make it a reality in every way possible. Don't worry, we "do not" overpower your decisions. Our roles is to help you pick and arrange all décor, vendors, and every intricate detail. This includes booking your venue, caterer, florist, rentals, invitations, and much more.
A wedding planner will worry about logistics, handle vendors and the paperwork that entails, and keep track of your budget. It is also a wedding planners job to coordinate your day of and draft a timeline for your wedding day. We can make ourselves present for tastings, vendor consultations, manage rehearsal direction, and day of coordination. We also provide design and layout advice based on your venue and your vision. Planners will generally spend 80-250 total hours on your wedding.
What does a wedding coordinator do?
A wedding coordinator is equally as important and useful as a planner. We won't exactly help you select a specific vendor or book them, but we will offer preferred and recommended vendors. We will take your research and plans and turn them into a reality.
A coordinator will spend approximately 25 hours on your wedding. You'll meet with us 6 weeks - 3 months prior to your big day so we can get a handle on what you have planned. We will review your vendor contracts if needed and come up with a timeline for your big day. We also ensure everyone is where they need to be and that everything goes smoothly. This confirms you will not be questioned or hindered with day of concerns or ideas.
Things to take into consideration:
- How busy are you?
A hectic job, school, or a busy personal life might mean you don't have a ton of time for planning. This may suggest that you need a planner vs a day of coordinator
- Are you organized or detail oriented?
Maybe you can handle all of the planning, but want someone to make sure everything goes smoothly the day of your wedding. This suggests that you may want to book a wedding coordinator.
- Check with your venue
Some venues provide wedding planning or coordination in their packages, so you might not need to hire outside help
- Be budget conscious
Decide how much you can spend on extra help for your wedding. If you can't spend that uch, you may want to consider a coordinator over a planner
Are there different levels of a coordinator or planner?
